01

Context

One product, sold on trust alone

Sutton & Hide sells a single item: a padded collar with the pet’s name and the owner’s phone number laser-engraved into a metal plate. One price, A$54.95, across four sizes and three colours.

A single-product store has nowhere to hide. There is no catalogue to browse, no cross-sell to rescue a weak page. The entire business rests on one product page converting a first-time visitor who has never heard of the brand.

02

Problem

The engraving is the risk

Every collar is cut to order, which makes it non-returnable for change of mind. The customer is being asked to spend A$54.95 on something that cannot be exchanged if they mistype a name or misjudge a neck size.

That single constraint reframes the whole brief. The job is not to make the product look desirable — the photography already does that. The job is to remove every reason a buyer might hesitate at the exact moment the order becomes irreversible.

03

Decision

De-risk the irreversible step

The build puts a live engraving preview directly beneath the name field, so the buyer sees the plate as it will be cut before adding to cart. The size guide sits inside the purchase flow rather than behind a link, with an explicit instruction — measure the neck, allow two fingers, size up when between sizes.

Reassurance is placed at the point of doubt instead of the footer: the Sutton Guarantee (remake or refund on a wrong engraving, no return required) appears beside the personalisation fields, not in the policy pages.

The reviews are labelled honestly as verified purchases of the same collar collected before Sutton & Hide stocked it, with machine-translated entries marked as translated. Nothing is presented as a testimonial the brand did not earn.

04

Craft

Structure over decoration

One price across every size removes a decision. A single automatic discount — two collars, fifteen per cent — replaces coupon hunting. Production and delivery windows are stated in days, not vague promises, and repeated at the point of purchase.

On mobile the size and colour targets are built well above the 44-pixel minimum, and the page carries no horizontal overflow at 375 pixels — the width most Australian buyers will actually use.

05

Outcome

No result claimed

This is an independent build, not a client engagement. Trading figures are not published here because Alture cannot verify or attribute them. What can be inspected is the live storefront itself.
